VW Expands Magna Mirror Roll Out
The 2025 VW Tayron shows us the bigger picture of what is happening.
VW is continuing the roll out of the Magna occupant monitoring mirror, for compliance with advanced driver distraction warning (ADDW) to meet the EU General Safety Regulation. Shown are two images of the EU spec 2025 VW Tayron, with two obviously different versions of the Magna occupant monitoring mirror now at start of production (SoP).

The assumption is the first image is the electrochromic version of the mirror, and the second is the prismatic version (or maybe vice versa). In both instances the tell tale IR illuminators are visible operating from behind the mirror glass.

A ramp up of production of the Magna occupant monitoring mirror is expected in the VW portfolio in the second half of this year, bringing more models into compliance with ADDW for GSR before July 2026. Identical versions of these two mirrors can be seen in non-ADDW compliant VW models. The next two images show the 2025 VW Passat.
